This afternoon our school had to briefly place students in an instructional hold due to a medical emergency involving a student. An ambulance was called, the family of the individual involved was notified, and all students were safe and secure in their classrooms. In an instructional hold, students and staff remain in their current classrooms, but normal instruction and activities continue. We appreciate the quick response of our staff and emergency personnel, as well as the understanding and support of our school community. Thank you for your continued trust in us to keep your children safe.

The Lafourche Parish School District is closely monitoring the weather forecast for early next week. As the forecast continues to evolve, we are actively working with local authorities to assess the situation and determine if any changes to school operations are necessary. We understand the importance of keeping you informed and prepared, and we want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff and their families is our top priority.

As of now, we do not anticipate any changes to school-related activities scheduled for the weekend. A decision regarding Monday will be made no later than 5 p.m. Saturday. Once a decision is made, we will inform our families through employee email, website updates, Facebook and OnCourse Connect, and direct notifications will be sent through SchoolStatus texts, emails, and phone calls. National Principals Month: Gina Johnson

To celebrate National Principals Month, we’re sharing some fun facts about our amazing school administrators. Today you’ll learn more about Mrs. Gina Johnson, principal of C. M. Washington Elementary School.

Here’s the inside scoop on Mrs. Johnson:

🐾 She has been a principal for six years.
🐾 She says the most rewarding part of being a principal is seeing the growth not just in test scores or data, but in the confidence, character, and potential of every student. It's the little moments that make the biggest impact. It's seeing a student who once struggled walk into school with confidence and determination. It's watching a teacher try something new and seeing it light up their classroom. It's hearing a parent say, "Thank you for believing in my child." Being a principal isn't always easy, but it is always worth it. “I get to be part of something that truly changes lives, and that's a gift I don't take for granted.”
🐾 Her favorite subject in school was reading because every story was a new adventure.
🐾 Her favorite school lunch is pizza.
🐾 One item on her bucket list is to meet Coach Prime in person.
🐾 Outside of work she enjoys walking and watching football.
🐾 Fun Fact: She’s a huge Prince fan and had an opportunity to visit Paisley Park in Chanhassen, MN.
